What We’re All About

Here at camp we love being a part of the community in our neck of the woods, so in 2015 we started throwing a big party each year to celebrate it. We hope that all our Lutheran Lake friends, illustrious residents of Waymansville, and strangers (soon to be friends) stopping by from out of town will join us for a fantastic morning of racing, eating, and enjoying camp and each other’s company.

Lakeview Ministries is a non-profit Christian camp that serves thousands of children and families each year. We love building relationships between people and families, providing encouragement for people to grow in their faith, and giving people lots of awesome time in God’s creation. Any proceeds from this day go to support all those things.

Whether you’re racing or simply checking out the sights, young or old, fast or slow, been coming to camp all your life or have never heard of us before, ALL are welcome to come to camp on Labor Day morning for a fun time.

The Course

The course is a single loop traversing paved roads around beautiful Lutheran Lake. In the first quarter mile of the course, you will head up a large hill gaining approximately 100 feet of elevation. From there, you’ll get to enjoy the flattest stretch of the course for roughly a mile before heading back down another large hill. The second half of the course consists of several steep rolling hills, though nothing quite as big as that first one. The course will start and finish by the Camp Lakeview dining hall.

Overall, the course is challenging but fair. You will finish feeling like you have accomplished something!

SWAG (“Stuff We All Get”)

Each 5K participant will receive an awesome SWAG item to wear with pride after finishing their race.

For 2023, the SWAG item is a Performance T-Shirt with a sweet design. Made out of moisture-wicking material, this shirt will keep you feeling cool and dry while running!

If there are no shirts available in your size, we will have other SWAG items to choose from, including hats, sunglasses, and travel mugs.

All runners and walkers who finish the race will also receive a Finisher Medal. Wear it with pride-you conquered the hills! Every kid who does the fun run will also receive a sweet award ribbon to reward their accomplishment.

The overall male and female winner for the 5K will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the Lakeview camp store. Choose from a sweatshirt, hat, t-shirt, Nalgene, and more as a reward for your awesomeness!

EVERYONE (whether racing or not) is welcome to help themselves to a delicious brunch after the race. We’re talking biscuits and gravy, doughnuts, all the good stuff…

While helping yourself to some brunch, consider a free-will donation!

All donations and proceeds from the race go to helping Lakeview Ministries provide much-need experiences of community, faith, and outdoor adventure to thousands of children and families each year.
