What We’re All About
Here at camp we love being a part of the community in our neck of the woods, so in 2015 we started throwing a big party each year to celebrate it. This year is going to look a little bit different, but we hope that all our Lutheran Lake friends, illustrious residents of Waymansville, and strangers (soon to be friends) stopping by from out of town will join us for a fantastic morning of racing, eating, and enjoying each other’s company.
Lakeview Ministries is a non-profit Christian camp that serves thousands of children and families each year. We love building relationships between people and families, providing encouragement for people to grow in their faith, and giving people lots of awesome time in God’s creation. Any proceeds from this day go to support all those things.
Whether you’re racing or simply checking out the sights, young or old, fast or slow, been coming to camp all your life or have never heard of us before, ALL are welcome to come to camp on Labor Day morning for a fun time.
Community Day Timeline
7:00-7:50 am Check-In and Same Day Registrations
8:00 am 5K Run/Walk START
8:15-10:00 am Brunch Available for ALL
The race will take place at the Camp Lakeview Dining Hall. This is where you will find Parking, Check In / Registration, Race Start and Finish, Food, and Restrooms.
Plan on wearing a mask to check-in, when using the bathroom facilities, and at any other race site activity where people are nearby. Masks are not required during the race.
SWAG (“Stuff We All Get”)
The first 100 participants to sign up will receive a custom Lakeview tubular bandana. These bandanas are made of a comfortable, breathable, stretchy material and can be worn 10 different ways. Use it as a face mask, a headband, a neck warmer, and more!
All runners and walkers who finish the race will receive a sweet Finisher Medal. Wear it with pride-you conquered the hills! The top 3 male and female finishers will also receive a Lakeview Nalgene as an award.
EVERYONE (whether racing or not) is welcome to help themselves to a delicious Boxed Brunch after the race, courtesy of local legend Mel’s Country Market. If you’ve ever stopped by this local establishment, you know how great the food is-YUM!
While helping yourself to some brunch, consider a free-will donation!
All donations and proceeds from the race go to helping Lakeview Ministries provide much-need experiences of community, faith, and outdoor adventure to thousands of children and families each year.
The course is a single loop traversing paved roads around beautiful Lutheran Lake. In the first quarter mile of the course, you will head up a large hill gaining approximately 100 feet of elevation. From there, you’ll get to enjoy the flattest stretch of the course for roughly a mile before heading back down another large hill. The second half of the course consists of several steep rolling hills, though nothing quite as big as that first one. The course will start and finish by the Camp Lakeview dining hall.
Overall, the course is challenging but fair. You will finish feeling like you have accomplished something!
Camp Lakeview is located between Columbus and Seymour, approximately 10 miles off Exit 64 on I-65. Check in will take place at the Camp Lakeview Dining Hall.
